Biography

Julián Heredia

He began his piano studies in Comodoro Rivadavia (Chubut, Argentina) at the age of 10 at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de la Patagonia, simultaneously making his first public appearances as a soloist and in various ensembles. In 2003, he graduated as a Teacher of Theory and Solfège, and in 2004 as an Elementary Piano Teacher. Starting in 2006, he continued and deepened his studies in Buenos Aires with the prestigious concert pianist Horacio Azcárate, to whom he owes the solid foundation of his pianistic and musical training, delving into the repertoire of the great classical music composers: Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, among others. At the same time, he enrolled in the degree program “Licentiate in Composition with Electroacoustic Media” at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. In 2009, he obtained the Diploma in Music and Technology.
He has been part of various popular music formations (rock, folk, tango), also working as a studio session musician. During 2009 and 2010, he presented chamber music performances as a duo with guitarist Sebastián Barrionuevo, with a repertoire ranging from Baroque to 20th-century music. In 2012, he entered the Advanced Cycle of the Superior Piano Instrumentalist degree at the Instituto de Formación Musical La Colmena in the city of Córdoba. At the same time, he joined folk and Argentine music groups, highlighting his role as a member of singer-songwriter Javier Brochero’s group, with whom he performed at various national festivals (Tancacha 2013, International Crafts Fair 2013, Cosquín Winter Peñas 2014), also receiving the Special Mention at the Jesús María Rodeo and Folk Festival 2013. In 2014, he was selected among a group of 18 pianists from across the country to attend seminars and masterclasses at the National/International Festival of Pianists of Mar del Plata, later performing Debussy at the festival’s final concert. In 2016, he presented his thesis “Melting Pot: Argentina” as his final graduation concert for the La Colmena degree program. At the same time, he formed a violin and piano duo (with violinist Valeria Martin) with a repertoire oriented toward tango. Subsequently, in 2017, he joined the tango trio Bien Debute as a permanent pianist until 2019.
He has furthered his training and attended masterclasses as an active student with international pianists such as: Cecilia Dunoyer (France-USA), Alessandra Feris (Brazil), Alexandra Faubert (France), and Emanuele Torquati (Italy). His repertoire as a soloist and chamber musician is highly varied: it includes works from so-called classical or academic music (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Gershwin, Debussy, Albéniz, etc.), international jazz and film music, and also Argentine popular music (Piazzolla, Gardel, Dames, Mores, Ramírez, Leguizamón, among others).
In March 2019, he was selected for the annual training program of CIMAP (Creators and Performers of Argentine Music for Piano), directed by Hilda Herrera and based in San Telmo (Buenos Aires). During 2020, he played piano and synthesizers in the group of folk singer Daniela Toro. From 2021 to 2023, he was a member of the ensemble Cuartetango, directed by Master Carlos Nieto on bandoneon, direction and arrangements, with whom he performed at various venues and milongas in the province of Córdoba. At the same time, he was a permanent pianist with the Orquesta Típica Vevo during 2023 and 2024.
During the 2024 summer season, he joined the cast of the multi-award-winning show Bien Argentino (on keyboards and synthesizers), directed by Ángel Carabajal at the Espacio Mónaco in Villa Carlos Paz.
During 2024 and 2025, he performed several contracts as a solo pianist for the international company Princess Cruises, bringing his piano repertoire to diverse audiences around the world and traveling through various countries in North America, Central America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
He currently lives in Buenos Aires, is a member of a Tango Orquesta Típica, teaches private lessons (in-person and online), and works on commission for various projects, both as a live musician and in studio recordings.
